Critical Mass comes to Galway

22 November 2006 No Comment

In a line which would be more suited to Charlie Bird, the Galway Cycling Campaign has learned that Critical Mass will happen next Friday the 24th November, starting at 6pm in Eyre Square.

As you might be aware, the Galway Cycling Campaign has discussed Critical Mass numerous times over the years. The general conclusion is that organising Critical Mass would possibly be counter-productive to our aim of having an ongoing dialogue with Galway City Council.

At last, this year, this tactic [trying to establish a dialogue] suceeded to a certain degree and they at least acknowledge our existence.

Aside from that, Critical Mass, [a movement NOT an organisation, remember] moves along all over the world.

And now it comes to Galway.

Critical Mass is a bike ride typically held on the last Friday of every month in cities around the world where bicyclists and, less frequently, skateboarders, roller bladers, roller skaters and other self-propelled commuters take to the streets en masse.

I’m sure many members would be interested in this, and as usual, feel free to forward this email and spread the word.
